Check Valves

 

Check valves are utilized to allow forward flow and prevent reverse flow. This is achieved by means of a linear or rotary (angular) motion of a closure member which is kept open by the flowing fluid.

When the flow is reduced towards zero, or reversed, the closure member is moved against its seat by forces due to gravity, supplementary springs, and back pressure.

The self-acting design of the check valves, considering both dynamic as well as static response (flow configuration) must be studied in accordance to the applicable operating conditions.
