A filter is any device that separates solids from a fluid, and thus a Strainer is a filter.
The Strainer is used as a device comprising a perforated metal plate or wire mesh screen to remove larger particles, while a filter is used as a device for smaller particles.
Y filters are used where there is a small amount of material to collect.
The single-basket Strainer - Simplex Basket - is used when the flow or process can be interrupted for a short time to clean the basket.
The Double Basket Strainer - Duplex Basket - is used when the flow or process cannot be stopped and must continue. This type allows one basket to be closed for cleaning while the other remains in operation.
Temporary filters are designed for high-pressure differential filtration of fluid and gas handling equipment during commissioning and start-up periods.
